SWITZERLAND AT FIRST SIGHT

Located in the heart of Europe, Switzerland is a tiny and mountainous country which total area is over 42.000 km2. Although Switzerland is located in the very center of Europe, it is not a member of the EU or EEA. Switzerland is located between France and Italy, but it is also bordered by Lichtenstein, Austria, and Germany. The population of Switzerland is a bit over eight million but at the same time, it is one of the most developed countries in the world with one of the highest standards of living. It is also the only European country with 4 official languages – German (Swiss German), French, Italian, and Romansch. An interesting fact is that the capital of Switzerland is Bern, but the biggest city in the country is actually Zurich, while Lausanne is the judicial center of the beautiful country. Switzerland might be located in the center of Europe, literally, but still has not joined the European Union. The official currency is The Swiss Franc (CHF) which also has a reputation for being a hard currency, often purchased during some financial uncertainty, because it is considered a really stable and reliable.

Switzerland is a magical country. Around 60% of the country is taken by the Swiss Alps, which makes the country both a great summer hiking and world-class winter sports location. It is the ideal place for people all those people who enjoy the tourism and the beautiful nature as well as for those who will appreciate the delicious food that can be found there.

It is not a surprise that Switzerland is considered the world’s happiest country, followed by Denmark and Norway.
