The University has locations in Hamburg (headquarters), Berlin, and Düsseldorf. It offers prospective students international and practice-oriented degree courses at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. BTK, founded in 2006, is a state-approved private art school with sites in Berlin, Iserlohn, and Hamburg. It is sponsored by US education company Laureate Education Inc. The University currently accomodates some 250 students in six Bachelor degree programs and two Master degree programs in four faculties: the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Art & Design, the Faculty of New Media and Communication, and the Faculty of International Service Industries/Sport Management. RWTH Aachen University, founded in 1870 and seated in Aachen (North Rhine-Westphalia), is the biggest state university in Germany as far as technical studies are concerned. Ever since the University was awarded for its institutional strategy for project-related development of top-level research at the university (“RWTH 2020: Meeting Global Challenges“) within the scope of the 2007 Excellence Initiative, it belongs to the circle of the nine so-called “elite universities“ in Germany. Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, which was founded in 1957, is a state-recognized business school with the right to confer doctoral degress. It is headquartered in Hessian Frankfurt am Main. With more than 13,000 students, the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences of the federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia, which was founded in 1971, ranks among the ten biggest universities of applied science in Germany. As many as ten faculties spread across the two main locations of Aachen and Jülich. While the faculties of Architecture, Design, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, and Business Studies are located in Aachen, the faculties of Chemistry and Biotechnology, Energy Technology, as well as Medical Engineering and Technomatics are to be found in Jülich. Humboldt University, which was founded in 1809, is one of Berlin’s oldest universities as well as one of the 20 biggest universities nationwide. The private university provides educational training for professions within the culture and creativity industry to approximately 550 students.
